Welcome to the first look at my selection of fabric choices for the Autumn release of Sheila Christensen’s Mystery Quilt. The next Mystery Quilt to start in 2025. I am sure that I will have a fabric selection to take your fancy. Let’s dive in.

What is a Mystery Quilt?

If you have never heard of the Mystery Quilt then let me fill you in with what is on offer. This is a quilt designed by Sheila Christensen @mysteryquilter and it is a puzzle quilt over 10 months.

The main feature of this BOM and the part that sets it aside for other Mystery Quilts, is that ALL the pieces come to your PRE-CUT! That’s right there is no cutting invovled, so when the parcel arrives you can just open up and start sewing.

Each parcel contains that month’s puzzle instructions and all the pre-cut fabric pieces to make the blocks. Pieces are kept simple: triangles, squares and rectangles and at the end the final puzzle is revealed to give you a beautiful finished quilt top.

It is a Mystery or puzzle as you don’t know what the finished quilt will look like until the final reveal, but the quilts are very cleverly designed by Sheila and always turn out fabulous.

What are your options?

Each of these seven colourways I have carefully selected for you to choose from, so I hope you see something that takes your fancy?

Here is a closer look at the fabrics chosen for this Mystery Quilt.

Christmas in the Cabin – Turtle Dove

My first fabric choice is a Christmas one, these are always extra popular, the great thing about this range is that it is from Art Gallery Fabrics so I should be able to restock which makes it unlimited (to a point).

The Fabric line is called Christmas in the Cabin.

For anyone new to my Mystery Quilt from the image above the outer circle represents the binding fabric. Below are details of each of the six main prints.

Color Me Pretty – Swallow

This is Color Me Pretty by Stephanie Organes for Andover Fabrics. A fabulous mix of teal greens and pinks with a pop of that gorgeous orange. Stephanies designs have proved to work really well with Mystery Quilt designs over the last couple of years and is becoming a firm favourite here at MQC.

Country Cuttings – Greenfinch

This collections is a mix of cute tiny ditzy florals mixed with my favourite Maker Linen Texture prints. I have had these fabrics for a little while as I needed to wait for the right Mystery Quilt design to make these work well and Flyway proved to be the one! A beautiful mix of pale greens and yellows.

Fairy Dust – Redwing

Fairy Dust is a combination of Fairies and Unicorns for all those magical loving little (or big) kids out there. This range is from Makower Fabrics and desinged in house at their UK studio.

An aqua and teal mix with this pop of fabulous pink with just a smattering of pretty little fairies, those cute mushrooms and the odd unicorn.

Iconic – Waxwing

Iconic is the next bold and bright range from Libs Elliot for Andover Fabric. I just love these prints of graffiti lettering, leopard prints and saftey pins. All in these bright yellows, gold and blue prints.

This is a BOLD quilt for any Libs lover out there. I have added in a couple of the Makower linen textures to give a little rest place between those vibrate prints to bring together a fabulous design.

Indigo Cheddar – Fieldflare

Another twist on a yellow and blue design, this time a little more subtle design with the addition of a couple of low volume and cream prints. This is Indigo Cheddar by Makower Fabrics.

Plain and Simple – Yellow Wagtail

Anything but plain or simple, this combination of pale greens and lemon yellow with a little mix of gingham is my last collection for this Flyway Mystery Quilt. Another collection from Makower Fabrics who know just how to design the perfect little prints that work so well for our Mystery.
