Welcome to my the first Mystery Quilt launch of 2024, and our next collection is called Wild West. I have,(so far) seven possible colourways for you to chose from. I am hopeful I might be able to add another couple but I am just waiting on some details.

For now I am going to show the collection under the fabric collection name but can you guess some of the themed names?

What is a Mystery Quilt?

If you have never heard of the Mystery Quilt then let me fill you in with what is on offer. This is a quilt designed by Sheila Christensen @mysteryquilter and it is a puzzle quilt over 10 months.

Each parcel contains that month’s puzzle instructions and all the pre-cut fabric pieces to make the blocks. Pieces are kept simple: triangles, squares and rectangles and at the end the final puzzle is revealed to give you a beautiful finished quilt top.

It is a Mystery or puzzle as you don’t know what the finished quilt will look like until the final reveal, but the quilts are very cleverly designed by Sheila and always turn out fabulous.

What are your options?

Each of these seven colourways I have carefully selected for you to choose from, so I hope you see something that takes your fancy?

Here is a closer look at the fabrics chosen for this Mystery Quilt.

At Day’s End

This fabric collection is called At Day’s End from Sarah Maxwell of Designs by Sarah J. This is her first fabric collection for Andover Fabrics and I knew instantly it would be perfect for Mystery Quilt. I opted for a combination of the low volume greys and teal greens.

For anyone new to my Mystery Quilt from the image above the outer circle represents the binding fabric. Below are details of each of the six main prints.

Birdie

This is my first collection from Libs Elliott’s latest collection called Birdie for Andover Fabrics. I have opted for a blue colourway of this retro print. With a hint of mustard/gold to give a pop of colour. Here is a closer look at all the prints within the quilt top.

Birdie

My second offering from Libs Elliott Birdie collection is a beautiful range of pinks.I loved this collection so much that I had to go for two colourways, I just can’t decide which is my favourite now! Again here is a closer look at the prints I am using.

Botanist

This collection is an enchanting woodland themed fabric from Katarina Roccella for Art Gallery Fabrics. With a combination of blushing pinks, misty greys and rich umbers this collection of fabrics has everything.

Ink

Ink is a glorious range of greys and low volumes from Giucy Giuce for Andover fabrics. I am really happy with how these prints have turned out as this one could have proved tricky but I can guarantee this is a must for any grey lover. The final print is white with a very subtle grey mottle print.

Kasumi

Kasumi from Makower Fabrics is inspired by the simple elegance of the Japanese gardens, a blend of floral prints in deep indigo, teals and creams with accents of soft pinks, reds and metallic gold detail.

Just so you know there is a Koi print within this collection but I opted not to use this within the Mystery Quilt, so there will be no little fishes appearing in your quilt, just these beautiful florals and blenders.

Verdigris

Another collection from Libs Elliott as she really has been putting out some fabulous and varied collections. I could not pass up this urban feel collection with its combination of deep neutrals, warm rusts and cool sage greens. Verdigris is inspired by urban decay, a range of grit and softness.

I am thrilled to be working with Aurifil again on their latest BOM as they unveil the new 2024 Block of the Month Subscription, the latest chapter in Aurifil’s creative journey.

The Palazzo BOM, which launches in April, features an exclusive monthly Foundation Paper Piecing quilt pattern designed by Kitty Wilkin (Night Quilter) in partnership with the Aurifil 50wt Italian Color Builders.

Aurifil Thread Builders

The Palazzo BOM begins in April and runs for 12 months. Each month will showcase one of the Aurifil Italian Colour Builder collections.

Initially introduced in January 2020, Aurifil’s Italian Colour Builders are a capsule of twelve curated mini-collections inspired by (and named after) Italy’s most vibrant and colourful destinations.

Each collection contains three large spools of 50wt thread — a warm, a medium, and a dark — within the location’s primary colour palette.

They are Aurifil’s best-sellers… our go-to hues that quilters reach for again and again… a rich and instant thread stash.

The Palazzo Quilt

To compliment the Colour Builders, there is an exclusive pattern! Featuring a monthly Foundation Paper Piecing quilt pattern designed by the amazing Kitty.

Subscribers will receive monthly patterns, tips & tricks, and exclusive videos from Kitty herself.

The Palazzo Quilt Kit BOM

I am so exited to be able to offer you a full fabric kit featuring 28 co-ordinating Art Gallery Fabrics colours to each of your Palazzo Aurifil threads.

Each month along with your threads, I am giving you to option to upgrade your kits and you will receive the co-ordinating fabric colours and background to make that months blocks for the free pattern.

I have added extra listings so you can now purchase: thread only, thread and quilt top fabric or double up your colour fabrics to give you a little extra.

I want to make this as easy as possible for you, so I will be breaking down the fabric kits to a simple monthly package. This will include just the right amount of fabric to complete the quilt top pattern.

Being able to double up the main colours in this kit to give you extra to work with on your own projects.

As you will have lots of thread left to play with this is a great opportunity to buy a little more fabric in a smaller quantity.

Most of the coloured fabrics are Fat Eighths, and we all know it is not easy to get those in most shops.

You will have the option to purchase the fabric requirements for the quilt top which total 7.5m of fabric or if you double up, you will receive 11.5m. (I have not doubled up the background fabrics as that would be 7m!).

Extra Benefits

The subscription not only covers the  monthly delivery of threads, fabrics and access to the exclusive pattern but is supported with the following extras:

  • Monthly Newsletter
  • Tips & Tricks to support the pattern
  • Exclusive videos from pattern designer Kitty Wilkin
  • Private Facebook Group run by Aurifil for all participants

All the additional educational videos, and support are complementary from Aurifil and exclusive only to subscribers and will remain exclusive to the program for the duration of the subscription.

A Quilter & Hand Piecers Aid. I’m sure some of you will have heard of the Lap App™ , but as these are not easy to get hold of in the UK then let me tell you a little more…

LapApp

The Lap App™ is the creation of Joyce and her husband and is handcrafted in the USA. Designed originally for her to use, they realised this was such a great tool they had to share with the quilting world and beyond.

Hand Stitchers Dream

This small adjustable lap table provides a rest for hands making it ideal for appliqué and handwork.

The Lap App™ is made of Natural Baltic Birch and Pine woods and features special Star Knobs making it easy to adjust.

The base, which sits in one’s lap, measures 12″ x 8″ includes 3 spindles for thread storage and an extra strong magnet to prevent needles from getting lost.

The central pedestal measures approximately 5″ high and can be adjusted in multiple directions – up/down and forward/backward.

The rectangular top surface also measures 12″ x 8″ and pivots to be flat or diagonal to suit the application and the user’s preference.

It features a non slip area for tracing and marking.

Each Lap App™ comes with a 100% cotton, padded cover that is both removable and washable. The cover features a pocket for a small pair of needlework scissors.

Applique

The Lap App™ is hugely popular amongst applique and hand work enthusiasts around the world. I for one know that Sarah Fielke is a big advocate and anyone who took part in the Merry & Bright BOM last year will have come across this useful tool in her tutorials.

Accessories

As the years have gone on, they have added some amazing little extra’s that can be added to the standard model including a handy storage box.

As well as having a non slip area which is great for tracing and marking they have now added a removable wool pressing mat.

Stitch App

This companion to the Lap App is your go to caddy for all your handwork essentials.

  • Made of clear coat finished Baltic Birch
  • Measures 10″x4″x6″
  • A satin nickel finish handle on top allows for easy transport
  • A strong neodymium magnet to contain pins
  • A 3 1/4″ x 2″ x 3/8″ recessed tray area stows miscellaneous notions
  • Two 3 1/2″ spindles with easy turn knobs hold thread spools or Bobbins
  • The cup area corrals scissors, marking tools, rulers, and seam rippers
  • Three felted wool balls in different colours (colours will vary) will help you sort your needles by size and type

Ruler App

This wooden ruler rack will organize your rulers and keep your cutting area neat and tidy.

The sturdy wooden base has a generous six slots that allow you to sort your rulers and templates according to size, keeping them visible and handy.

Featuring:

  • A galvanised farmhouse style bucket to store cutting tools for safety and a clutter-free work area
  • Non-skid discs on the bottom of the base prevent the rack from moving or slipping
  • Measures 23” x 4.25” X 5/8”
  • The opening for the bucket is 2 7/8” in diameter

Pre-orders & Deposits

As you can imagine shipping and taxes to bring these into the UK is not cheap or easy.

I am not expecting for you to pay the full amount until they have arrived and are ready to ship to you directly.

Therefore I have these items on pre-order with a deposit required so that I can be sure of quantities to order.

As you can imagine I need to be sure who I am actually ordering for on this first shipment as this will require a big up front investment from me and my business.

If you commit to paying a deposit then you are committing to paying for the full balance, but I am not asking for all the money up front until we know the products have safely arrived and are ready for delivery to you.

I know there is appetite for the Lap App™ but I just have to manage the quantities and shipping costs to myself.

Deadline

The deadline for the first wave of orders is Midday, Monday 1st May.

Delivery

I am only going to be offering shipping within the United Kingdom, due to the size and possible postage restrictions until I can work out how big the items would be for future packing requirements further afield.

I am estimating that it will take 2-4 weeks for the product to arrive and that is not including any possible customs hold ups, as no one can predict those!.

Just one final point, if you order anything at the same time as your pre-order I will not be shipping out separately and these will be held until the Lap App™ products arrive. If you want something else now I would recommend popping a separate order through.

Reserve Now

If you would like to order any of the products and be on the first wave of deliveries you need to order by Midday Monday 1st May.

**sign up window extended, see details below**

My first Village Green Mystery Quilt is a classic Rashida Coleman Hale fabric line called Whatnot for Ruby Star Society.

Bluebell

This is a slightly older print that will not be easy to find these days but the fun prints on these fabrics work really well for Mystery Quilt.

For the purposes of the illustration the fabric around the circle represents the binding fabric. This may also be a duplicate of a fabric within the quilt top.

Here is a closer look at all the fabrics contained within this quilt.

Crocus

My second fabric option is one of my Alison Glass collections for Andover Fabrics. This is a selections of Sun Prints and Trinkets.

I almost missed this fabric line and just managed to order it in time for it to be included in this Mystery Quilt as I just knew it would work beautifully.

Again here is a closer look at all the fabrics included in the quilt kit.

Forget Me Not

Here is a return to a popular theme from last year. My Christmas quilt was very popular so I thought I would go again with an equally cute and fun print.

This is Christmas in the City an Art Gallery Fabrics range.

You can’t quite see it from this graphic but the binding is a lovely Christmas red with little snowmen on.

Foxglove

This is my second Alison Glass collaboration. Using a range of Sun Prints and Trinkets is a beautiful combination of purples, lilac, pinks with an accent of mustard! Trust me, it really works.

You will see a black print in there but don’t be put off by that, thinking it will be a dark dark quilt. I would say this is more of an accent print even though it is position one on the wheel.

Heather

Heather is from Makower Fabrics and this sweet fabric line is called Heather & Sage, so aptly decided to name the Mystery Heather!

Featuring cute little sheep and pretty heathers and flowers it is a very sweet collection. In complimentary shades of thistle purple, light blues and pale mustard yellow giving a subtle and beautiful quilt.

Honesty

Honesty is made up of fabric from a range for Art Gallery Fabrics called Lilliput. The range features prints with ditzy flowers, berries and large florals.

All in complimenting colours of rusty orange, pale pinks and a deep blue.

This is the usual AGF fabric that has a lovely soft feel to it so will make for a lovely Mystery Quilt.

Ivy

Ivy Mystery Quilt sees me featuring a new range with first time fabrics from Monaluna Fabrics. These cottons are 100% organic cotton.

This collection is called Amour Vert, a sweet blend of florals and leaves in greens and corals with the added fun of little toadstools and treeshouse in complimenting pale peachy pinks.

Sunflower

My final Alison Glass collection and this is one I was so pleased I could grab the fabrics for.

Sun Prints Luminance was what we used for our sell out Rainbow Remix quilt kit, thus there wasn’t any left over.

Fortunately my supplier had stock left so I could make up this beautiful collection. We had nicknamed it NEON until I came up with my Bee Flower related names!

Welcome to the second Mystery Quilt launch of 2022.

This Mystery Quilt is called Piazza and follows a theme of Italian Piazza’s each one named after a different one. I enlisted the help of my well travelled sis to come up with the names for each of these. Yes I even have her working when she is on the road visiting all these lovely sites.

As always Sheila Christensen has done an amazing job on creating yet another stunning quilt design, but you will have to wait until the end to see how this Mystery Quilt turns out. I can assure you though it is gorgeous.

The only thing for you to decide really is which fabric selection sings to you, we have been working hard together to bring you a set of four fabric collections that work well with the pattern and really brings out the best of each fabric.

You can read more about your options below or head straight to the Buy Me link

What are my options?

Each of these four colourways I have carefully selected for you to choose from so I hope you see something that takes your fancy?

Here is a closer look at the fabrics chosen for this Mystery Quilt.

Colonna

My first Mystery Quilt choice for Piazza is called Colonna and features a selection of warm tones from Alison Glass’s Between fabric collection.

For the purposes of the illustration the fabric around the circle represents the binding fabric. This may also be a duplicate of a fabric within the quilt top.

Here is a closer look at all the fabrics contained within this quilt.

This one is for me!

Erbe

Here I have chosen some ditzy floral fabrics from Amelia by Makower Fabrics. They were just too sweet to pass up and the tiny print works really well for Mystery Quilt.

Here is a closer look at all the fabrics contained within this quilt.

This one is for me!

Rotonda

This colourway brings some cooler tones from the Between collection by Alison Glass. These gorgeous blues and aquas just look stunning together.

This one is for me!

San Pietro

Here I have a funky twist on a monochrome colour scheme. Featuring some of the Beguiled black and white prints from Libs Elliot collection when she was with Andover fabrics.

This one is definitely a bright one and I only have very limited stock on this one so don’t hesitate if this takes your fancy.

This one is for me!

You may see that some of these quilt options appear similar to the ones from Cotton Cuts, but each has a slightly different twist with my fabric placements. I have given these different names so you do not get them mixed up. Sometimes we run the same lines but this time we have different ones and ones with a personal MQC twist.

Here we are at the launch of the next Mystery Quilt and this one is called Sew Sweet. It features three different colour ways from me all based on donut names.

I’ve gone a little traditional with naming each of my quilts as I am not a big donut connoisseur and was brought up on a traditional strawberry jam donut if it was a treat otherwise it was one of those lovely warm seaside donuts covered in sugar!

Custard Pie

My first Sew Sweet Mystery Quilt is from Katarina Roccella’s fabric line called Twenty. It is for Art Gallery Fabrics so is that gorgeous soft fabric that I loved in my last MQ.

This may seem a little out of the ordinary from my usual choices but when I saw the quilt design for this one, I really loved it and knew you all would too.

For the purposes of the illustration the fabric around the circle represents the binding fabric. This may also be a duplicate of a fabric within the quilt top.

Hey Sugar

My second fabric option is from Patty Sloniger for Andover Fabrics and is from the Flora and Fauna fabric collection.

I almost missed this fabric line and just managed to order it in time for it to be included in this Mystery Quilt as I just knew it would work beautifully.

Again here is a closer look at all the fabrics included in the quilt kit.

That’s my Jam

My final offering is actually the fabric I ordered first. I took a bit of a gamble as I really did take a shine to this whole collection when I saw it.

I ordered Henna from Beth Studley for Makower Fabrics long before the quilt had even been designed. Again another option that has paid off rather well as I can say these look fab in the finished design.

The beautiful jewel tones of purples, pinks and teals work so well together to give a bright modern quilt.

A closed look at my final selection of fabrics for this Mystery Quilt.
